Photography Equipment In general, I
don't believe equipment owned is essential to obtaining memorable photographs. However for much of my
work, especially wildlife, equipment does provide an advantage. For that reason
and because I am often asked about my choice of equipment, I list it here.
I am currently using a Canon 1D Mark III DSLR for my photography. The camera is
capable of high capture rates and very fast autofocus. In the field this
is backed up by a Canon30D
Lens complement includes:
- Canon 17-35mm f/2.8 L Lens
- Canon 24-105mm f/4.0 Image Stabilized L Lens
- Canon 20mm f/2.8 L lens
- Canon 100mm-400mm f4.0-f/5.6 USM Image Stabilized L Lens
- Canon 600mm f/4.0 Image Stabilized L Lens USM
- Canon 100mm Macro
- Canon 1.4x Extender
- Canon 2x Extender
I use a Wimberly head to mount my 600mm lens to a Bogen
tripod. I consider the Wimberly an indispensable accessory for this big lens,
especially for photographing birds in flight.
